Medieval Times Celebrates 20th Anniversary

The dinner attraction’s authentic display of classic equestrian skills astride snowy Andalusians and medieval pageantry, coupled with a sumptuous feast quickly became a success. Four years later in 1977, Medieval Times, as named today, opened in Benidorm, Spain.

As Medieval Times’ popularity grew in its native country, the first North American opened in Kissimmee, Florida in December 1983. Professional production and training from Spain brought with them the architectural flourishes, authentic costumes, and weaponry that had become so popular in Europe. The U.S. rspnse was immediate and overwhelming as families and tourists from all over the country flocked to the castle to witness knights in battle.

As the Florida castle established its success, plans immediately developed to expand the their U.S. operations. Seven more Medieval Times castles opened across America in rapid succession. Join us as we celebrate 20 fabulous years of feasting and fun at our Buena Park castle, which opened to rave reviews in 1986. The experience begins as guests enter the 11th century European style castle. In the Hall of Arms, guests admire the display of medieval artifacts. There are coats of arms and a spectacular array of medieval weaponry. There is also a Museum of Torture, featuring reproductions of medieval torture instruments. Trumpeters herald the guests into the Grand Ceremonial Arena where they are seated in one of six color-coded sections corresponding to the colors of one of the knights. Fifty serfs and wenches attend to your every need as you feast on a four-course dinner. The arena quickly fills with the thunder of hooves as the King of Arms leads the cast through a spectacular display of equestrian skills and medieval pageantry.

The experience culminates as trumpeters summon the Knights of the Realm for the Tournament Royale. Guests join in the revelry and fun as they cheer their own knight to victory in authentic jousting matches and dangerous sword fights.

Be apart of history at Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament as we celebrate our 20th anniversary throughout all of 2006.
