Big Bear Mountain Resorts (BBMR) has been a top Southern California choice for winter activities for more than 55 years. BBMR includes Snow Summit Mountain Resort and Bear Mountain Resort. Their dedication to outstanding guest service and a consistent quality snow surface provides the perfect atmosphere for plenty of memorable skiing and snowboarding experiences. The two resorts are located in the San Bernardino Mountains, just a tank of gas

away roundtrip from most areas in Southern California. Situated about two miles from one another, they are connected by a free inter-mountain express shuttle service. Each resort offers a variety of diverse terrain providing skiers and snowboarders with a total of 26 lifts and more than 55 runs.

Together, BBMR has the region’s most progressive terrain parks but separately each has its own distinctive features. Snow Summit Mountain Resort focuses primarily on skiing and family activity, as well as night skiing, and Bear Mountain Resort shines as the preeminent snowboarding destination. Both offer group as well as private ski and snowboard lessons.

Snow Summit Mountain Resort

Snow Summit provides the premier mountain resort experience for everyday skiers and riders in pursuit of wide-open groomed runs and picturesque alpine views. Winter sports enthusiasts will enjoy their time on the snow with unparalleled learning programs for snowboarders and skiers of all ages. Ticket sales are limited daily so avoid overcrowded hills. Beginner, intermediate and advanced terrain offer 14 lifts and 31 trails.

Snow Summit is also home to the Family Park, the resort’s slow skiing and riding zone. Located on the far west side of the resort, the Family Park expands across five trails specially designated for kids, parents, grandparents, mini-shreds or anyone looking for a mellow cruise. The Fun Zones offer small jumps, bumps and rollers.

Ego Trip Park offers even more terrain park features for all abilities. The Wall, Dicky’s and Olympic runs serve up challenging, steep terrain for advanced skiers and riders, while Miracle Mile and Log Chute are ideal intermediate cruisers. Night skiing is open at Snow Summit most Fridays, Saturdays and holiday periods beginning at 3 p.m.

Southern California offers superb skiing conditions from November thru March

Turn on the Lights for Night Skiing

Snow Summit continues its tradition of nighttime winter-sports fun. Night skiing and riding at

Snow Summit has been a popular attraction for many years. Following day skiing, on scheduled nights, the resort keeps open three top-to-bottom runs, including Ego Trip Park and a large, lift-served beginner area. Dozens of floodlights outline many of the trails and are used to keep Snow Summit bright even on the darkest nights.

Night sessions at Snow Summit take on a unique and intriguing atmosphere, an experience quite different from day skiing and riding. Benefits include a less expensive lift ticket, virtually nonexistent lift lines and more room on the runs. Rental ski and snowboard equipment are also available at night. When you get hungry for some dinner, Summit Inn and Bullwheel Bar are open for both food and beverages while the lifts are running.

Bear Mountain Resort

In a word - BIGAIR!

The Park at Bear Mountain offers one of the most progressive freestyle terrain parks in the world, in addition to the region’s largest learning areas for skiing and snowboarding. In order to accommodate all skill levels, Bear Mountain’s terrain ranges from mellow cruisers to steep canyons and bowls to moguls and parks. In addition to 12 lifts, Bear Mountain also has nearly every type and size of freestyle feature imaginable—150-plus jumps and 80-plus jibs—strategically placed around the mountain. If you’re looking for a long run, head over to Geronimo. You’ll enjoy a lengthy 1.5 mile experience.

Ready for something extraordinary? Check out The Scene—Bear Mountain’s revolving jib setup that puts the skills of riders and skiers on center stage. And with a standard halfpipe and Southern California’s only Superpipe, beginners can start small while seasoned pipe riders and skiers can go as huge as they want.

Bear Mountain specializes in accelerating the learning curve for snowboarding, using two concepts: beginner-specific equipment and small class sizes. Qualified instructors teach how to utilize various features found throughout the beginner parks. Jibbing and jumping are made easy! Riders must have basic riding skills.

The United States Adaptive Recreation Center located at Bear Mountain Resort offers a wonderful opportunity for people with disabilities to ski and snowboard. For details about this unique program, visit the USARC web site at www.USARC.org.

Mountain High Offers Three Distinctly Different Resorts

There are runs to suit any ability

Mountain High is another top Southern Cal choice for skiing and snowboarding. Just 75 minutes from Los Angeles and Orange Counties, the area welcomes its guests with three very diverse mountains and a wide variety of lifts and trails. Each base area is complete with ticket windows, restaurants, rentals, sport shops, ski and snowboard lessons and much more.

Mountain High is home to not one but three distinguished resorts and, though they are only a mile apart, they offer stunning differences in both terrain and atmosphere. Sixteen chairlifts and more than 60 trails make the skiing and snowboarding experience a thrill no matter what your skill level.

West Resort

The West Resort is filled with a seemingly endless assortment of technical trails and skillfully-designed terrain features to satisfy the sport's new freestyle culture. It is the more youthful of the three areas and the site of many on-hill contests, promotions and live performances. It is also Southern California's only local resort that is open seven nights a week until 10 pm.

East Resort

The East Resort boasts the longest trails in Southern California serviced by a single high-speed quad. It is also known for its thrilling moguls, gladed tree-skiing areas and breathtaking views of the Mojave Desert. Rising as high as 8,200 feet, the East Resort offers traditional skiers and snowboarders a true alpine experience without having to journey far from home.

North Resort

Calling all families! Mountain High's new North Resort offers 70 acres of tubing and beginner

terrain for families, snowplayers and introductory skiers. Formerly Ski Sunrise, Mountain High North is located directly across from the West Resort. The North Pole Tubing Park operates seven-days-a-week during peak season. Lift service for skiers and snowboarders is available on peak weekends and holidays.

Mountain High’s friendly staff of hosts are happy to offer assistance with directions, activities, lost and found, and general information about the resort and the town of Wrightwood. You can rest easy knowing Mountain High’s team of on-hill safety personnel tours the mountain on a daily basis promoting safe winter sports practices.

Parking is available at each of the three Mountain High resort areas, along with free shuttle service. Shuttles run continuously from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, seven days a week during the season.
