The Hyatt Grand Champions Resort
Indian Wells

When the idea of a French Riviera villa overlooking all that water we know as the Mediterranean Sea seems like the next luxury vacation, consider an even better idea that won’t take an all-night ocean-crossing ride to get there.
In fact, a secluded luxury villa and a golf, tennis or just do-nothing vacation right here in California’s desert summer and winter visitor playground just might be the answer to the question. Much easier to get there and much more time to enjoy.
At the east end of the desert’s Coachella Valley, the smallest community, beautiful Indian Wells, takes special pride in its outstanding resort complex. And in this unique and delightful city, a famous golf and tennis mecca, The Hyatt Grand Champions Resort, Villas and Spa is right there in the heart of all this year-around desert vacation activity. In such a great spot with so much beauty abounding, it surely must be the place.
A secluded villa complete with private butler service which rivals anything the French Riviera can offer is the best of the Hyatt Grand Champions and that’s saying something special. Everything at the Hyatt Grand Champions is something special. As a matter of fact, it is very special, quite literally starting with the avenue of palms fronting the main entrance and leading to the bright and spacious lobby - then to the lovely split-level rooms - to the secluded penthouse suites and the exclusive Regency Club with its wonderful views from the top floor – to the elegant dining at the Lantana - to the nationally recognized spa situated in the perfect setting off by itself - to, believe it or not, seven swimming pools - to three outstanding guest-only tennis courts - to a world-class convention and conference facility - to the surrounding beautiful Celebrity Golf Course at the Indian Wells Golf Resort - to the close-up mountains that hide this desert enclave and, of course - to those renowned super-luxury villas, all 43 of them.. No ocean scenery maybe but glorious views of close-by mountains and a terrific golf course, both, in fact, just outside your villa’s front door.
So how do you beat all that? The answer is easy – you don’t. And in all this opulence with its 45 acres of seclusion, there is much more to the story.
It all began with the opening of the Grand Champions in November 1986 including its 10,000-seat tennis stadium which became home to the world-famous Indian Wells Tennis Tournament. Hyatt came on board in November 1987 in the management capacity it continues to enjoy with great success to this day.
An upgrading and expansion program was completed in 2002 which included an added hotel wing to increase the total number of rooms to 530 including an increase in the ever- popular deluxe villas to the present total of 43 located along the west border of the property adjacent to the back nine of the Celebrity Golf Course. The conference center was greatly expanded with the removal of the tennis stadium which also provided for more badly needed parking space close to the conference center. The tennis tournament, one of the international super-nine series, is now presented annually in mid-March at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden just east of the resort complex.
Of special importance was the building of the award winning and highly successful Agua Serena Spa, rated one of the very best in western America. This outstanding guest facility enjoys its own separate building and the kind of seclusion its guests would expect. The Agua Serena Spa advertises itself as “pure, authentic and exquisite.” By any measure, it certainly is.
