At Disneyland, It's One Small Step for Man, One Giant Leap for Fun on Space Mountain 2005!

We have ignition and lift-off as "Space Mountain," rated by Americans as their favorite Disney theme park attraction in a recent national survey, blasts-off into a new era of thrills! The high-speed interstellar adventure that has captivated Disneyland guests since the 1970s has reopened following nearly two years of being re-Imagineered for the 21st century. Through an all-new, hi-tech launch port inspired by today's era of space exploration, guests feel as if they have a first-hand look into the cosmos. After boarding their rockets, they speed through the launch tunnel, hurling them towards a close encounter with a large meteorite. Following an exhilarating race through space, the experience culminates with a new finale featuring a longer re-entry tunnel filled with spectacular lighting effects. Space Mountain's regular daily flight schedule has enhanced narrative elements within the ride and Space Port area. It also sports a new generation of special effects, new rocket vehicles, and a smoother, darker ride. The initial idea for "Space Mountain" originated with Walt Disney himself back in the mid-1960s, when the concept was simply known as "Space Port." The concept became a reality in 1975 when the first incarnation of "Space Mountain" actually premiered at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Space Mountain had its Southern California debut at

Disneyland two years later. The U.S. Mercury Astronauts, America's first men in space, were on hand for the grand opening ceremonies and to christen the 118 foot tall "mountain." Since then, the rockets of "Space Mountain" have carried over 171,600,000 would-be astronauts, covering 8.8 million miles or equal to more than 18 round trips to the moon! Space Mountain joins an incredible array of innovative new adventures and spectacular entertainment premiering at Disneyland during its 18-month 50th anniversary celebration, which began this past May.

"Finding Nemo's" Most Excellent Sea Turtle, Crush, Comes to Life at California Adventure A new wave of fun has washed ashore at Disney's California Adventure park with the opening of "Turtle Talk with Crush," an all-new attraction inside the park's "Disney Animation" exhibit. Featuring Crush, the sea turtle, Turtle Talk with Crush is inspired by the Walt Disney Pictures presentation of a Pixar Animation Studios film "Finding Nemo," representing Disney's newest breakthrough in bringing favorite characters to life. The live, real-time computer-animated show gives guests the chance to engage in live, unrehearsed conversations with the animated sea turtle. From his digital world

under the sea, Crush chats, plays, jokes and reacts to guests in a unique, personalized way. The 152-year-old turtle recognizes guests and asks them questions about themselves and the human world. Imagine Crush stopping in mid-stream, noticing someone in the audience, and saying in real-time, "Hey you - dude in the righteous Hawaiian shirt - what's that on your head?" Walt Disney Imagineers have created precisely this kind of incredible interaction in the new attraction, which is located in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot section of Disney's California Adventure.

"Block Party Bash" Rocks Disney's California Adventure! The festive atmosphere of the 50th anniversary "Happiest Homecoming On Earth" celebration at Disneyland park extends across the esplanade of the Disneyland Resort to Disney's California Adventure park with the madcap and irreverent "Block Party Bash." The music and excitement are cranked to the max for this high-energy street extravaganza as Disney presents the Pixar Film Pals, who invite you to dance and play as they party their way through Disney's California Adventure. The wildest block party in Disney history will entertain guests with a non-stop musical parade that doubles as a fun-filled interactive street spectacular. Led by the famous Green Army Men, gigantic rolling party invitations, and a precision infantry of 12 whimsical Orange Cones (8-feet tall), the parade literally explodes into the park. In addition to an eclectic mix of fun-inducing 50s, 60s and 70s retro tunes, "Block Party Bash" includes appearances by 26 of the most popular characters, including Woody and Buzz Lightyear from "Toy Story," Mike and Sully from "Monsters, Inc.,"and Flik and Atta from "A bug's life." As a totally immersive experience, the contagious fun of the entire spectacle will spread throughout the audience.
