Favorite Features:

San Diego Wild Animal Park's Heart of Africa is a 32-acre safari walk through an African wilderness that allows guests to traverse a variety of habitats from dense forests to grassy savannas to a waterhole featuring three islands and a rustic interactive research camp. Guests stroll near animals including okapis, cheetahs, rhinos, giant eland, colobus monkeys, wattled cranes, warthogs, hornbills and flamingos.

San Diego Wild Animal Park's WGASA Bush Line Railway is a 5-mile, 50-minute excursion that offers the grandest views of rare African and Asian animals outside of their native homeland. Inspired by the legendary Safari trains of Africa, the WGASA Bush Line travels past herds of elephants, zebras and giraffes; families of pygmy chimpanzees; a pride of lions; crashes of rhinos; flocks of ostriches and hundreds of other exotic creatures.

ALL SHOWS ARE INCLUDED WITH PARK ADMISSION

Cheetah Run—NEW!

Daily at 5 p.m., weather permitting.

Witness the fastest land mammal up close and personal doing what it does best: run! The new Cheetah Run, located near Lion Camp and Balloon Safari, is a unique, jaw-dropping experience. During Cheetah Run, the spotted sprinter races on a straight 330-foot-long track that allows the cheetah to really stretch its legs and reach an astounding speed: 0 to 70 miles per hour in just 4 seconds while chasing a mechanical lure attached to its favorite toy. If you're close enough, you may feel the wind as the cheetah passes by. Cheetah Run is made possible through the generosity of local philanthropist Darlene Shiley and is named in honor of Shiley, one of the participating cheetah

Have you "herd"? with Robert the Zebra

Daily at 11 a.m., noon, 1, 2, 3, and 4 p.m.

If you've ever wanted to have a conversation with a zebra—or even if it never crossed your mind—this is your chance! Robert the Zebra lives in digital, animated form on a large screen, where he can see the people who have come to visit. He asks questions, cracks jokes, talks about zebra life, and is very curious about humans. Chat with our interactive digital zebra in the Park's Discovery Station Amphitheater.

Frequent Flyers® Bird Show

Daily at 11 a.m., 1 and 4 p.m.

An East African crowned crane in flight is a stunning sight viewed by only a privileged few, until now! The crane is one of the stars of the Park's bird show, Frequent Flyers. The program lets you witness birds in full flight and focuses on a variety of birds from around the world. With over 40 different species, no two shows are the same. Frequent Flyers is full of great fun, natural history, fantastic stories, and, of course, lots of birds!

Animal Encounters

Check Park map insert for times and locations.

This interactive program gives you an opportunity to have face-to-face contact with the Park’s animal ambassadors like a cheetah, alligator, serval, and other rare and exotic animals. You may interact with trainers and ask questions about the species. Interactions happen throughout the Park.

Note: Schedules may vary or be canceled due to weather or animal health needs.
